Digital Storytelling
Four BoulderReads! students had a very unique and special opportunity to attend the Writing Beyond Limits Digital Storytelling workshop at CU, thanks to Project Director Dr. Kayann Short, The Center for Digital Storytelling Director Daniel Weinshenker (storycenter.org), and the CU Outreach Committee.
During the workshop held in June of 2008, the students each created their own digital story (see below) and had a chance to experience a powerful form of communication. The students each wrote a short script about a personal experience and then recorded that script in their own voice. They then learned to use Final Cut Express software to import a voice track, images, and music to create their digital stories. In addition, two BoulderReads! staff members (Diana Sherry and Laurie Watkins) attended the workshop and a followup, receiving training that they hope to use to help other BoulderReads! students experience this wonderful form of communication.
